My New Home

For seven months and eighty-seven posts, a big, naked toe hovered just over low breaking, gentle waves.  Occasionally, the toe would get a little wet, such when I told my cousin that I had a blog.  Then I told my sister – another tiny toe splash, followed by selected family members and close friends.  The toe became completely immersed and it felt pretty good.

With considerable thought and a big brave gulp, I moved my blog, Design & Psychology, to this more public forum because I like to get comments; most people who endeavor to express themselves do. It’s always a treat to see “1 comment” at the bottom of a post. The iweb blog program that I was using is not comment-friendly, to say the least. Describing it as frustrating and temperamental would be an understatement.  Intermittently, it does not let you post and then it deletes everything from the comment window for no apparent reason whatsoever.  So you have to re-type your remark (if you happen to forget to copy your comment first) and hope for the best.  Lately it has had user interface distortions that rendered the comment feature totally dysfunctional. (There…a reference to human behavior within the context of art.)  Hence, the move.

But iweb has aptly served a valuable purpose for me.  Tentative as I was upon my first blog posting, I am infinitely more confident now.  And flawed as it is, iweb provided a sandy landing of soft, protected waves, a virtual journal, for thoughts, memories, opinions, stories, tributes and feelings that once published, became illuminated with a clarity that would have remained muddled and murky.  Breathe out.  There it is.  An answer, as plain as black and white.

The name change is not random, the web address is.  I wanted the theme of art and human behavior, my two fields of study, to move with me.  Graphic design is my profession and I find human behavior interesting as all hell.  People are constantly changing puzzles, waiting to be understood at one particular moment or all at once. And respected. As long as there are people and interactions, there will be topics to write about.  And made visible through design.

Now, the time has come to plunge the whole foot.  Splash!

  4. Thank you, Kim! Yes, it is. My "blogs I like" list is kind of paltry since I don't know too many others who have them, but I would like to include yours if that's okay with you. It definitely fits the category.
