New Website in Progress

Click in image to go to site.
I bought a pretty slick picture that I fell in love with from istockphoto.com and I am trying to force it for use as the home page of my redesigned website.  Even after years in (and out of) the advertising business, I am disappointed in my lack of knack for writing clever copy.  I know what I want to say, but it is not reading smoothly, or cleverly, to me.  Even though I am still mulling it over – how to use copy to make the front page image connect to a graphic design business – I am putting it out as only a test site for now and would appreciate a report on malfunctions or typos, if anyone has the time to look.  And... any input on the home page wording would be very, very appreciated. Thanks!

  1. Hi Lin....I've been giving it some thought. I love the visual and the design. very, very nice. I also love the way you incorporate comfortable into the opening paragraph of copy. But for some reason, Come on in, get comfortable does not gel for me as the headline for the page because the sofa et al looks so sleek and modern, not worn-in and squishy. I think you could use come on in, get comfortable maybe at the end of the text block, you know? but use another title here in red--let me give it more thought. maybe something about style meets function? love alice

  2. i totally agree. I have been thinking about it, too. the head goes with an overstuffed shabby chic sofa, not this one (which is crazy gorgeous by the way). it speaks to me of style and competence and knowingness with a touch of sexy. not that it isn't comfortable, but in a long line of adjectives it would be way down on the bottom.

  3. Yes, yes, yes! Right, Alice and Kim. Style meets function. Style, competence and knowingness. These phrases are much closer to what I want to convey. You are both wonderful! Now I have a better direction for a headline. I really appreciate (and admit that I was hoping for) your valued opinions!!!!! Thank you so much.
