My brother-in-law sent me a clipping of an opinion/article that he found in the South Jersey Times that so precisely describes the feelings that I have for the “new” definition of autism. Below is a link to this excellently worded reflection of what so many of us still feel – those of us left in the autism dust. To accept this new description of what has become the disability du jour is to do a disservice to families and individuals living with the real autism, or as the author so accurately puts it – autism prime. This new expanded definition diminishes our lives and our efforts. Period.
I don’t know how to properly credit another author on this blog, but his name appears on the article byline.
