They could never write those bad jokes about my mother-in-law. She is one of the most loving, caring women I have ever known. Laura welcomed me into the family 40 years ago with a smile, a kind heart and a sense of humor. She gave me a large wooden rolling pin for a bridal shower gift and told me not to hesitate to use it on my future husband, if need be. (Lucky for him I never did, but I always knew that she was in my corner.)
She is the mother of eight children, and she provided each of them with their own special soft landings on their unique bumpy roads to maturity. I am not quite sure how many grandchildren and great-grandchildren she has now -- maybe 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, if I didn't forget anyone.
Happy birthday, Mom.

How lovely! I met your mother-in-law, I think at Aunt Edith's bday party, and found her very warm and nice. You and Joe are lucky! Love, Al xo
ReplyDeleteI think you probably did meet her at a party for my mother. Yes, we are lucky to still have her around! Love, Linda
