What’s good:
- I am happily immersed in a project – the 40-page program/ad book for the Devereux fundraiser. I am working on it in conjunction with a local ad agency that has generously donated their expertise. So, hoping to impress them (ahem) with my competence (for self-serving reasons of my own – yes, I can connive with the best of ‘em), I am giving it an extra professional punch.
- A successful meeting with a future client happened on Tuesday. A brochure project will move forward within the next couple of weeks. Hopefully, more in the future. I really miss working.
- Stopping in at my old work place to say hello, since I was in the area after my meeting. It really was nice to see my former boss and art department co-worker. I have nothing but good feelings for them.
- I fixed my Kindle. All of a sudden, it froze into a picture of Harriet Beecher Stowe (the front panel rotates through a series of portraits of famous authors and literary images when it is put into the sleep mode) and I could not get it to budge back into my book, or even turn on or turn off. Panic welled up inside of me because I love my Kindle. I looked for fixes on-line and learned how to get it to reboot. Whew!
- Everyone is staying healthy, including my mom. Especially my mom. So no emergency room visits this week. I like to stay out of the emergency room.
- Started a commitment to myself to take the dog for long walks every (non-rainy) weekday. I have to try to remember to bring my phone/camera in the future. Sure wish I had it with me this morning; I saw a lone goose on a roof. Just standing there kind of lost and searching (maybe for his flock). There’s usually not much interesting to look at during a walk in a staid suburban neighborhood, even on trash day. So you find out who is remodeling, how many families had pizza or bought new electronics…but a goose on a roof. That’s something.
Bad number 1 is bad:
- My sister has Ureteral/Bladder Cancer. We are still waiting for more damn tests to be scheduled – a biopsy and other tests to determine staging. What takes these people so long to do this? Even a day seems like an eternity when you are waiting for these things to happen so that we can move on to treatment/surgery/whatever it takes.
- There was a minor fire at the refinery where Joe works. Scary, but thank goodness no one was hurt. They take safety seriously to the nnnth degree.
- Compared to number 1, this is nothing in the grand scheme of things, but I have been making some terrible food choices.
So, there it is.

Hi,we are waiting with baited breathe for news on the tests. So happy your projects are moving along having something else to think of is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteYou are so much with us.Our best to all.
Love Aunt Ann
You are sooo right about having something else to think about, Aunt Ann. Will let you know something as soon as we know. Love, Linda
ReplyDeleteHi Lin. I am so happy about your work stuff and that you fixed your Kindle. You are quite awesome. Strong prayers for Judi coming her way. Love, alice
ReplyDeleteThanks for your prayers, Alice. Sending same back to our North Jersey people.
ReplyDeleteAunt Ann & Alice,
Judi's biopsy is scheduled for May 3rd – they say it's because she needs to have pre-admission testing done first. That is too far away! I hope that we can work on that. Love, Linda
