A Fleeting Visit from the Fat Little Bronx Girl

I did something rather difficult for shy little me but I feel kinda good about it. “Me” time is a luxury that I don’t see much of these days.  So I took a few baby steps out of my comfort zone, which was one of my official New Year’s resolutions anyway.  With a bit of trepidation and a lot of interest, I joined a local writers’ group.  I do not know anyone in this group, hence the breaking through the comfort barrier.

There is a meeting tonight at the South Jersey Writers’ Group and there will be a guest presenter on the topic of none other than blog writing: Have Blog, Want Readers?  It meets at 7:30 at a coffee establishment located about 20 minutes away, according to google maps.  I don’t know what to expect.  Will the people be friendly?  Will I be able to find the place in the dark with my inept sense of direction, even though I will be fortified with printed out directions from two sources, a map and a GPS? Will the coffee be good? What makes me think I am qualified to join such a group?

Okay, get a grip.  I’m not the fat little insecure Italian kid from the Bronx anymore.  I’m a poised grown-up woman who has faced down the worst of the worst.  I can do this.  I want to do this.
